Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar said he wants someone to give him white-ball head coach Mike Hesson’s number so that he can speak to him about team selection.
Akhtar has been disappointed with some of Pakistan’s recent performances, especially their 2-1 loss to the West Indies in a three-match ODI series.
The Rawalpindi Express questioned some of the selections that were made and wants to understand on what basis Hesson picked certain players.
“Someone give Mike Hesson’s number. I want to ask him about this team selection,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After their tour of the West Indies, Pakistan won a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan.
They are now playing in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being held in the UAE.
The men in green started off with a 93-run win over Oman before suffering a seven-wicket loss against India.
Despite that setback, they were still able to make it to the Super Four stage as they defeated the UAE by 41 runs.
Pakistan’s first Super Four match was against India, but they ended up losing by six wickets.
They will look to bounce back when they take on Sri Lanka on September 23 in Abu Dhabi.
