West Indies powerhouse Carlos Brathwaite has called Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi “a serious talent”.
Afridi is Pakistan’s pace spearhead across all three formats and has recently got his bowling speed back up to around 140 kph.
Brathwaite noted that the 25-year-old has enjoyed a lot of success in his career thus far since he works so hard on his bowling.
“You can see how hard he works at his craft and he is obviously a serious talent,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After being left out of the team for Pakistan’s back-to-back T20I series against Bangladesh, Afridi made his return during the limited overs tour of the West Indies.
In the T20I series, he took two wickets in two games at an average of 29 and an economy rate of 7.25.
As for the three ODIs, Afridi finished with four wickets in two matches at an average of 21.50.
After their trip to the West Indies, Pakistan went up against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.
In the four matches he played, Afridi snapped up four wickets at an average of 19.50 and an economy rate of 5.57.
The men in green are now involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is taking place in the UAE.
Afridi has so far picked up three wickets in three games at an average of 19.66 and an economy rate of 6.55.
Pakistan kicked off their campaign with a 93-run win over Oman before suffering a seven-wicket loss against India.
They bounced back to beat the UAE by 41 runs, which also booked their spot in the Super Four.
Pakistan’s next match will be a rematch against India on September 21 in Dubai.
