Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has personally told Mohammad Haris to “improve his shot selection and composure” as he “tries to hit every ball” when batting.
Haris is back in the national team, but has been inconsistent when it comes to scoring runs.
In Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, the 24-year-old scored 179 runs, which included a career-best knock of 107 not out, at an average of 89.50 and a strike-rate of 201.12.
However, things have gone downhill for him since then as during the tour of Bangladesh, he only managed to make nine runs in three T20Is at an average of three and a strike-rate of 50.
Pakistan then toured the West Indies and Haris struck 12 runs in three T20Is at an average of six and a strike-rate of 133.33.
His cold run continued during the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan as he was restricted to 33 runs in five games at an average of 6.60 and a strike-rate of 84.61.
“Haris seems to be in a rush. He tries to hit every ball and appears unsettled at the crease. If he wants to succeed at No. 3, he must improve his shot selection and composure. I’ve personally told him this before,” Ramiz said on his YouTube channel as quoted by A Sports.
Haris will be looking to turn his fortunes around in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is currently being held in the UAE.
He started the tournament with a bang as he smashed 66 runs off 43 balls, which included seven boundaries and three sixes, to lead his side to a 93-run win over Oman.
Next up for Pakistan will be their highly-anticipated clash against arch-rivals India on September 14 in Dubai.
