Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal feels left-arm pace bowler Mohammad Amir has sent a message that “the tiger is still alive” following his strong performance in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Akmal was particularly impressed with how Amir, while playing for the Quetta Gladiators, dismissed Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam.
“After the dismissal, Amir celebrated by pointing towards the dressing room, which seemed to signal a planned move. It was as if he was telling the coaching staff, ‘The tiger is still alive,’” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.
Overall, Amir ended PSL 10 with 13 wickets in nine matches for the Gladiators at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 7.79.
Since he is no longer playing international cricket, the 33-year-old was not considered for selection for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the white-ball tour of the West Indies.
Next up for the men in green will be a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will be held from August 29 to September 7.
Following this, Pakistan will take part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
Pakistan squad for UAE T20I tri-series and 2025 Asia Cup: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem
