Veteran Pakistan batsman Fawad Alam believes Mohammad Amir is a rare fast bowler as he possesses intelligence.
He noted that since Amir debuted in 2009, the men in green have not had many smart bowlers.
Fawad made it clear that he is not downplaying the skills all of Pakistan’s bowlers have, but reiterated not many possess the same level of intellect the 33-year-old from Gujar Khan has showcased.
“I believe after Amir, we did not get many smarter bowlers. Skill is something every player who represents Pakistan has. But intelligence – that’s rare,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Amir has been enjoying a lot of success lately as he picked up 13 wickets in nine matches for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 7.79.
Since he has retired from international cricket, he did not feature in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh and the limited overs tour of the West Indies.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will take place from August 29 to September 7.
Afterwards, the men in green will participate in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
