Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman has joked that all-rounder Shadab Khan “pays more attention to food” than practice.

Shadab, who is Pakistan’s T20I vice-captain, has been in good form lately.

In the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), he captained Islamabad United and took 14 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 16.57 and an economy rate of 7.90.

He also scored 173 runs at an average of 24.71 and a strike-rate of 155.85.

After PSL 10, Shadab was involved in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and picked up four wickets at an average of 16.25 and an economy rate of 7.22.

Batting-wise, he finished with 55 runs at an average of 27.50 and a strike-rate of 157.14.

Unfortunately, the 26-year-old from Mianwali missed Pakistan’s T20I tour of Bangladesh and the white-ball tour of the West Indies as he had surgery on his right shoulder.

“Shadab Khan pays more attention to food,” Zaman was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Pakistan will now feature in a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will be played from August 29 to September 7.

Following this, they will be involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28.

Since Shadab is still recovering from his shoulder surgery, he was not selected in the squad for the T20I tri-series and the Asia Cup.
