Aaqib Javed: “Naseem had some injury issues in the past, but now he is coming here daily, bowling and improving his fitness more and more”

Pakistan Director of High-Performance Aaqib Javed said fast bowler Naseem Shah has been coming to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to work on his bowling and improve his fitness.
Naseem has been one of Pakistan’s first-choice speedsters for years, but he has been in and out of the national team as of late.
Recently, the 22-year-old featured in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took nine wickets in 10 matches for Islamabad United at an average of 40.33 and an economy rate of 9.30.
Following this, he didn’t take part in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the T20I series against the West Indies.
However, Naseem did return for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies and claimed five wickets in two matches at an average of 25.40.
“Naseem had some injury issues in the past, but now he is coming here daily, bowling and improving his fitness more and more,” Aaqib was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will take place from August 29 to September 7.
After this, the men in green will feature in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
