Pakistan pace bowler Kashif Ali is determined to secure a spot for himself in the Test team, but knows it will be easier said than done.
Kashif pointed out that his goal is to “keep performing” and stay consistent as it will ensure he stays in contention on the selectors’ radar.
So far, the 31-year-old has only featured in one Test, which came against the West Indies in January 2025.
In that match, he took two wickets at an average of 19.50.
“InshaAllah, my goal is to keep performing and stay in contention. That’s how you keep your place – through consistency,” he told Geo News.
Kashif didn’t play in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he has been involved in the County Championship in England, where he has been representing Kent.
In six games, the Rawalpindi native has picked up 11 wickets at an average of 58.54.
Kashif also missed Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which they won 3-0.
He also wasn’t picked for the tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green lost the T20I series 2-1.
Pakistan then toured the West Indies, where they came away with mixed results as they won the T20I series 2-1 but lost the ODI series 2-1.
Next up for the men in green will be a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, which will take place in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7.
Afterwards, Pakistan will be in action in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
