Pakistan batsman Babar Azam said he has “strong faith” that he will return to his best and start scoring big runs very soon.
Azam’s form has nosedived for numerous months, which has adversely impacted the men in green as he is their frontline batsman.
However, the 30-year-old did show some positive signs during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he amassed 288 runs in 10 games while captaining the Peshawar Zalmi, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
“My efforts are to score runs every day. However fans must understand life is all about ups and down. I have strong faith I’ll be back… scoring runs,” Azam was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After the PSL ended, Azam was not selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, which they won 3-0.
He was also overlooked for the tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green lost the T20I series 2-1.
Pakistan just finished touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs, but Azam was only picked in the ODI squad.
The men in green won the T20I series 2-1, but lost the ODI series 2-1.
In the three ODIs he played, Azam struck 56 runs at an average of 18.66.
