Glen Chapple: “I was looking at his speeds and it’s surprising how fast he bowls. He’s bowling 90 miles an hour comfortably”

Peshawar Zalmi bowling coach Glen Chapple admitted he was surprised at how Pakistan speedster Ahmed Daniyal was able to comfortably bowl at 90 mph (144 kph).

Daniyal played for the Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and thus worked with Chapple.

In the four games he featured in, the 28-year-old took six wickets at an average of 22.33 and an economy rate of 8.93.

“I was looking at his speeds and it’s surprising how fast he bowls. He’s bowling 90 miles an hour comfortably,” Chapple told PakPassion.

After PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in Lahore, which they won 3-0.

They then toured Bangladesh for another three-match T20I series and Daniyal ended up making his international debut.

The Lahore-born fast bowler claimed three wickets in two games at an average of 13 and an economy rate of 5.57.

Pakistan are now touring the West Indies, but despite enjoying a solid start to his international career, Daniyal was not picked for the T20I series.

Both teams are currently involved in a three-match ODI series, which the men in green lead 1-0 after winning the first match by five wickets.

The 2nd ODI will be held on August 10 in Trinidad.
