Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim said Mike Hesson looks to be a very good coach

Pakistan left-arm spinner Imad Wasim has backed the appointment of Mike Hesson as white-ball head coach, saying “he understands the game really well”.

Hesson is understood to have signed a two-year deal with Pakistan and will oversee them in both ODIs and T20Is.

Imad recently played under the 50-year-old when he coached Islamabad United in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

From what he saw during PSL 10, Imad conceded that Hesson “looks to be a very good coach”.

“Mike Hesson understands the game really well. I have spoken to him about cricket, and he looks to be a very good coach. Let’s see what happens,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Following PSL 10, Pakistan beat Bangladesh 3-0 in a three-match T20I series in Lahore.

They then toured Bangladesh for three T20Is, but were beaten 2-1.

Pakistan are now touring the West Indies and got back to winning ways as they triumphed 2-1 in the T20I series.

The three-match ODI series will get underway on August 9 in Trinidad.
