Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has lauded T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan, calling him a “very fine all-round cricketer”.
Hesson noted that Shadab is a cricketer many teams would want as he is capable of having an impact with the bat, ball, and in the field as well.
Given the skill set Shadab possesses, Hesson expects big things from the 26-year-old going forward.
“He’s a very fine all-round cricketer – the kind any franchise team around the world would jump at. He has that skill set a lot of sides are looking for: an attacking bowler through the middle, a power-hitter with the bat in those same overs, and an excellent fielder as well,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Shadab recently captained Islamabad United in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), who were coached by Hesson.
In 10 matches, the Mianwali native took 14 wickets at an average of 16.57 and an economy rate of 7.90.
He also did well with the bat, scoring 173 runs at an average of 24.71 and a strike-rate of 155.85.
Following PSL 10, Shadab featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and claimed four wickets at an average of 16.25 and an economy rate of 7.22.
Batting-wise, he accumulated 55 runs at an average of 27.50 and a strike-rate of 157.14.
Pakistan then toured Bangladesh for another three-match T20I series, but Shadab missed it after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The men in green are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
Currently, the T20I series is tied at 1-1 going into the 3rd T20I on August 4 in Lauderhill.
