Pakistan pace bowler Ahmed Daniyal: “Although I’ve bowled with the new ball before, I actually enjoy bowling in the middle and later phases of the game. With my slower ball and variations, I feel more comfortable in those phases”

Pakistan speedster Ahmed Daniyal has admitted that he prefers to bowl in the middle and death overs as he feels “more comfortable in those phases”.
Providing more detail, he noted that his slower balls and other variations work a lot better during those periods in a match.
Daniyal made it clear that he has bowled with the new ball before, but simply feels he can be much more effective once the ball becomes older.
“Although I’ve bowled with the new ball before, I actually enjoy bowling in the middle and later phases of the game. With my slower ball and variations, I feel more comfortable in those phases,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Daniyal recently represented the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and ended up taking six wickets in four matches at an average of 22.33 and an economy rate of 8.93.
He wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, which the men in green won 3-0.
However, he did make the cut for the tour of Bangladesh, where he made his international debut and went on to claim three wickets in two games at an average of 13 and an economy rate of 5.57.
Despite a promising performance against Bangladesh, Daniyal was not picked for Pakistan’s ongoing tour the West Indies.
The men in green won the T20I series 2-1, while the ODI series will begin on August 9 in Trinidad.
