Mohammad Haris: “The world has gone far ahead of Pakistan when it comes to modern-day cricket”

Big-hitting batsman Mohammad Haris has conceded that the world has “gone far ahead of Pakistan when it comes to modern-day cricket”.
The men in green have been lambasted for being stuck in the past and not adapting to what international cricket currently demands.
One of the key criticisms revolves around Pakistan’s failure to play a more aggressive brand of cricket, especially in T20Is.
Haris acknowledged that things have to change if the national team want to be more competitive and give the top sides in the world a run for their money.
“The world has gone far ahead of Pakistan when it comes to modern-day cricket,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Haris recently represented the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and made 247 runs in 10 matches, which included a top score of 87, at an average of 27.44 and a strike-rate of 148.79.
He stayed in excellent form during Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore as he accumulated 179 runs, which included a career-best knock of 107 not out, at an average of 89.50 and a strike-rate of 201.12.
However, things didn’t go as well for him during Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh as he only managed to score nine runs in three T20Is at an average of three and a strike-rate of 50.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
In the T20I series, Haris has mustered 10 runs at an average of 10 and a strike-rate of 142.85.
The series is tied at 1-1 going into the 3rd T20I on August 4 in Lauderhill.
