Pakistan big-hitter Asif Ali doesn’t think he is needed in the national team at the moment as he would have gotten a call from the selectors.

Asif used to be Pakistan’s go-to finisher at one point and produced a number of memorable knocks.

However, inconsistent performances led to him being removed from the team and the men in green have since tried out a number of power-hitters to fill the finisher role.

The 33-year-old admitted he hasn’t “given much thought to a comeback” as it isn’t his “primary goal right now”.

That said, he is still “ready to serve” should his services be required in the future.

“If Pakistan or the selectors need me, I am ready to serve. I am playing cricket and haven’t given much thought to a comeback, nor is it my primary goal right now. If the selectors needed me, they would have called me up. I believe they don’t need me at this moment,” the Faisalabad native was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

Asif recently represented the Lahore Qalandars in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and made 41 runs in nine matches at an average of 8.20 and a strike-rate of 170.83.

Following PSL 10, he was not selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore.

He also didn’t make the cut for the tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green lost the T20I series 2-1.

Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.

The men in green hold a 1-0 lead in the T20I series after winning the first match by 14 runs.

The 2nd T20I will be played on August 3 in Lauderhill.
