Pakistan batsman Mohammad Haris has revealed that his entire mindset changed when he spoke to West Indies power-hitter Rovman Powell.
He brought up a scenario where Pakistan may need 36 runs to win in three overs.
But instead of thinking the team requires 12 runs per over to win, the 24-year-old is now looking at it from the angle of needing to hit six sixes.
“I had a talk with Powell, for example, if we need 36 in 3 overs, we usually think of it as needing 12 rpo (runs per over). But he told me to look at it differently, just think of it as needing 6 sixes. Hitting 6 sixes in 18 balls is easier than thinking of it as 12 rpo,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
During the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Haris amassed 247 runs in 10 matches for the Peshawar Zalmi, which included a top score of 87, at an average of 27.44 and a strike-rate of 148.79.
After this, he played in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and accumulated 179 runs, which included a career-best knock of 107 not out, at an average of 89.50 and a strike-rate of 201.12.
Haris was unable to maintain his red-hot form during the tour of Bangladesh as he ended up with nine runs in three T20Is at an average of three and a strike-rate of 50.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
