Basit Ali: “Red-ball head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq. Congratulations”

Former batsman Basit Ali has predicted that ex-captain Misbah-ul-Haq will become Pakistan’s red-ball head coach.
Misbah previously coached the national team from 2019 to 2021 before resigning.
Currently, former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as Pakistan’s head coach in Test cricket on an interim basis.
But, Basit sees Misbah returning to the coaching set-up and replacing Mahmood on a permanent basis.
“Red-ball head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq. Congratulations,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Many of the Pakistan players recently took part in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was won by the Lahore Qalandars.
The men in green then faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, which they won 3-0.
Afterwards, Pakistan toured Bangladesh and lost the T20I series 2-1.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
They lead the T20I series 1-0 after winning the first match by 14 runs.
The 2nd T20I will take place on August 3 in Lauderhill.
