Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has conceded that he is not playing at his best and must do better.

Azam’s lack of runs has been a major concern for many months as questions continue to be asked about how long his rough patch will last.

“I admit I’m not playing my best,” the 30-year-old from Lahore was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

During the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Azam captained the Peshawar Zalmi and showed some signs of getting back to his best as he amassed 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

Despite having a solid campaign in PSL 10, Azam was not selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which they won 3-0.

He also wasn’t included in the squad for the tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green lost the T20I series 2-1.

Azam did make the cut for the ongoing tour of the West Indies, but only for the ODI portion.

Pakistan are currently playing a three-match T20I series against the West Indies, which they lead 1-0.

After it concludes, the three ODIs will take place.

The 2nd T20I between Pakistan and the West Indies will be held on August 3 in Lauderhill.
