Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has praised up-and-coming batsman Maaz Sadaqat, saying he has impressive maturity for someone so young.

Azam’s remarks come after he played alongside Sadaqat while captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In four matches, the 20-year-old Sadaqat scored 78 runs, which included a top score of 55, at an average of 39 and a strike-rate of 165.95.

“His maturity is impressive for someone so young,” Azam was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Azam had a solid campaign in PSL 10 as he accumulated 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

Once PSL 10 was over, Azam and Sadaqat were both ignored by the selectors for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which they won 3-0.

They also weren’t picked for Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green lost the T20I series 2-1.

Next up for Pakistan will be a tour of the West Indies, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs from August 1 to 12.
