Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has called out Shahid Afridi, accusing the ex-captain of declining to share a meal with him and trying to convert him from Hindu to Muslim.
Kaneria also claimed that Afridi has “consistently aligned himself with extremist views”.
The 44-year-old has talked about Afridi troubling him in the past, stating that only legendary batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq and iconic fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar supported him.
“He has consistently aligned himself with extremist views. In my opinion, he should not be given a platform on Indian television or within the country. Additionally, he tried to persuade me to convert to Islam and declined to share a meal with me, which I found deeply disrespectful,” Kaneria said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently played a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which they won 3-0.
