Andries Gous: “He (Shadab) is a very good captain. I liked the fact that he is aggressive; he likes to take the game on with both bat and ball”

United States of America wicketkeeper-batsman Andries Gous has lavished praise on Pakistan spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan, saying he is “a very good captain”.
Gous’ comments come after he played under the 26-year-old’s leadership for Islamabad United in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Shadab could captain Pakistan in the future as he is currently the country’s T20I vice-captain.
Gous admitted he is a fan of Shadab’s aggressiveness, noting the Mianwali native “likes to take the game on with both bat and ball”.
“He (Shadab) is a very good captain. I liked the fact that he is aggressive; he likes to take the game on with both bat and ball,” the 31-year-old, who was born in Welkom, South Africa, was quoted as saying by A Sports.
In PSL 10, Shadab took 14 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 16.57 and an economy rate of 7.90.
He also scored 173 runs at an average of 24.71 and a strike-rate of 155.85.
After PSL 10 ended, Shadab featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and snapped up four wickets at an average of 16.25 and an economy rate of 7.22.
Batting-wise, he struck 55 runs at an average of 27.50 and a strike-rate of 157.14.
Pakistan are now touring Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series, but Shadab was not picked as he is recovering after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.
The men in green lost the 1st T20I by seven wickets and will look to level the series in the 2nd T20I on July 22 in Mirpur.
