Pakistan fast bowler Khurram Shahzad doesn’t know who labelled him as a red-ball specialist, but made it clear that he doesn’t like having that tag on him.
Shahzad has represented his country in six Tests to date and taken 20 wickets at an average of 30.
While he has yet to make his debut in both ODIs and T20Is, the 25-year-old did play in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he put on a show as he claimed 12 wickets in eight matches for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 19.50 and an economy rate of 8.06.
Given how well he fared in PSL 10, the Mandi Bahauddin native pointed out it proves he has the skills to excel in limited overs cricket.
“I don’t know who has put that label on me. I’ve been playing in the PSL for the past five years. You just need to adjust your line and length slightly in white-ball cricket compared to red-ball,” he was quoted as saying by ARY News.
Following PSL 10, Shahzad wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which they won 3-0.
The men in green will now tour Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series, which will take place in Mirpur from July 20 to 24.
When the squad was announced, Shahzad once again did not make the cut.
