Legendary Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is certain that Babar Azam will get back to being an elite run-scorer again as he is “working on his technique”.
Azam has been unable to score runs consistently for many months, which has led to him being bombarded with criticism and seemingly losing his place in the T20I team.
Fully aware of how important the 30-year-old is to the national team, Inzamam reiterated that the Lahore native will return to his best in the near future.
“He’s working on his technique, and I have no doubt that he’ll bounce back strongly,” he was quoted as saying by ARY News.
Recently, Azam featured in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand and amassed 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.
He then captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and finished with 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
Following PSL 10, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not picked in the team.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which will be held in Mirpur from July 20 to 24.
