Pakistan T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan has admitted that he is failing to deliver the kind of performances expected of him in international cricket.

The 26-year-old noted that he does well in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but is unable to replicate that success when he gets the opportunity to represent his country.

Shadab, who is a spin-bowling all-rounder, acknowledged that he has been working hard to change this, while also reducing the number of mistakes he makes.

“I’m not delivering the kind of performances in international cricket that I have been in the PSL. But I’ve worked hard in domestic cricket and am trying to minimise my mistakes,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

During Pakistan’s white-ball tour of New Zealand, Shadab took one wicket in five T20Is at an average of 143 and an economy rate of 11.

He also struck 58 runs at an average of 14.50 and a strike-rate of 131.81.

Batting-wise, he made 173 runs at an average of 24.71 and a strike-rate of 155.85.

After PSL 10, Shadab was involved in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and picked up four wickets at an average of 16.25 and an economy rate of 7.22.

He also amassed 55 runs at an average of 27.50 and a strike-rate of 157.14.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
