Naseem Shah: “You need to be accurate and work hard to get him out. I felt good when I got Kane Williamson out. The second is [Steve] Smith in Test cricket”

Pakistan pace bowler Naseem Shah picked the dismissals of Australia batsman Steve Smith and the New Zealand duo of Kane Williamson and Devon Conway as his three favourite wickets to date.

Naseem put Williamson’s wicket at number one and it was followed by Smith and Conway at two and three respectively.

“I would pick from my Test wickets as you get the most satisfaction from taking a wicket in Tests. You need to be accurate and work hard to get him out. I felt good when I got Kane Williamson out. The second is [Steve] Smith in Test cricket,” he said on the PCB Podcast as quoted by ARY News.

Speaking further about Conway’s dismissal, which occurred during an ODI in Karachi, Naseem admitted that it stood out to him as the ball was reverse swinging at the time and he was able to break an important partnership.

“The ball was offering reverse swing. I hit his middle stump. The wicket was crucial for us to break a partnership in the game,” the 22-year-old said.

Naseem was recently in action for Islamabad United in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and claimed nine wickets in 10 matches at an average of 40.33 and an economy rate of 9.30.

After PSL 10, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Naseem did not feature in any of the matches despite being part of the squad.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
