Fawad Alam: “Either Tayyab’s inclusion in the national team is unjustified, or his exclusion from the PSL is. Both can’t be right”

Veteran Pakistan cricketer Fawad Alam has questioned if middle order batsman Tayyab Tahir’s inclusion in the national team is justified after he played just three games for the Multan Sultans in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Tahir has represented the men in green in 11 ODIs and eight T20Is to date, which caused Fawad to ask why Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan didn’t use him more often.
In those three matches in PSL 10, the 31-year-old scored 58 runs at an average of 29 and a strike-rate of 138.09.
“Tayyab Tahir is playing for the Pakistan national team and is part of Rizwan’s squad, yet he doesn’t feature in the PSL under Rizwan’s own captaincy. What’s wrong?” Fawad was quoted as saying by ARY News.
“Either Tayyab’s inclusion in the national team is unjustified, or his exclusion from the PSL is. Both can’t be right. If a player isn’t deemed fit to play in the PSL, how does he make it into the national squad? Are the selectors making decisions under pressure? There’s no justification for this.”
Following PSL 10, Pakistan went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Tahir was not part of the squad.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
