Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Amir: “Honestly, if I get the opportunity, I’ll definitely play in the IPL. I’m saying this openly. But if I don’t get a chance, then I will play in the PSL”

Left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir has admitted that he would rather play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) than the Pakistan Super League (PSL) if he had the chance.
Currently, no Pakistani players are permitted to play in the IPL due to ongoing political tensions.
However, Amir could be eligible to feature in the IPL in 2026 as he is set to become a British citizen.
Were he given the chance to take part in the star-studded tournament, the 33-year-old from Gujar Khan conceded that he wouldn’t turn it down.
“Honestly, if I get the opportunity, I’ll definitely play in the IPL. I’m saying this openly. But if I don’t get a chance, then I will play in the PSL,” he said on the Quetta Gladiators’ podcast as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Amir recently took part in the 2025 PSL and claimed 13 wickets in nine games for the Gladiators at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 7.79.
Following PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Amir was not considered for selection as he has retired from international cricket.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
