Former Australia speedster Shaun Tait could be open to coaching Pakistan again in the future, saying “never rule anything out”.

Tait previously served as Pakistan’s fast bowling coach for a one-year period and acknowledged that it “was an important part of my cricket career in general”.

Lately, Pakistan have been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons when it comes to their coaching decisions as red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie and white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten both resigned fairly early into their tenures.

Aaqib Javed subsequently took over as interim head coach in all three formats, but has now been appointed the Director of High-Performance.

Former New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson has since succeeded Javed as Pakistan’s limited overs head coach.

Despite all the changes that have been made, Tait reiterated that he remains open about joining the coaching set-up again.

“I mean, I’m going to try not to be as cliche as possible here. But, Like, I have said before you do get a connection for places and people,” the 42-year-old, who was the Karachi Kings’ fast bowling coach during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), was quoted as saying by A Sports.

“The year I coached Pakistan was an important part of my cricket career in general. And I think it was a unique experience for me. You know, when I was there, it was actually all right. I think we had the same coaching staff the entire time I was there, and it was fairly consistent.

“It was a pretty decent year to be honest, so, you never rule anything out in the future. And like I said, I would like to keep a connection with Pakistan cricket.”

Following PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, which they won 3-0.
