Former Pakistan left-arm seamer Sohail Tanvir is fuming that talented fast bowler Ihsanullah “underwent surgery for an injury he didn’t even have”, saying “this kind of incompetence is unacceptable”.
Ihsanullah rose to fame during the 2023 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he was bowling at speeds above 150 kph and finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 12 matches for the Multan Sultans at an average of 15.77.
He made his international debut shortly after, but he only played a few games for Pakistan before suffering an elbow injury that was allegedly not treated or operated on properly.
The 22-year-old spent nearly a year on the sidelines before finally making his comeback to domestic cricket.
Ihsanullah recently played in the National T20 Cup and picked up four wickets in three matches for Peshawar Region at an average of 25.75 and an economy rate of 8.58.
Even though the Matta native is back playing competitive cricket, Tanvir questioned how a player can have their injury misdiagnosed and undergo surgery that’s not even needed.
“Ihsanullah underwent surgery for an injury he didn’t even have. This kind of incompetence is unacceptable and I’m sure there are many other cases like this,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Ihsanullah was brought in as a late addition by the Peshawar Zalmi for the 2025 PSL, but didn’t play a single game in the tournament.
He also wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which the men in green won 3-0.
