Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has admitted that he would “love to play” for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Pakistani players are not permitted to feature in the IPL due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.

However, since Amir is set to become a British citizen in the near future, it is possible he could play in the IPL in 2026.

Should he get the chance to, the 33-year-old acknowledged that RCB would be his first choice franchise, especially after they won their first-ever IPL title on June 3.

“RCB is my favourite team in the IPL. I would love to play for RCB,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Since Amir has retired from international cricket, he did not feature in the 2025 Champions Trophy or Pakistan’s limited overs tour of New Zealand.

He was in action in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took 13 wickets in nine games for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 7.79.

The Gladiators made it to the PSL final, where they lost to the Lahore Qalandars.

Following PSL 10, Pakistan went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series and triumphed 3-0.
