Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has called on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi to “resign and leave” if he can’t solve the dire situation of cricket in the country.
He noted that Naqvi shouldn’t ruin his reputation if he can’t bring about change.
Akmal noted that stepping down would be the best option for the 46-year-old, unless he can improve Pakistan’s results in international cricket.
The men in green crashed out in the group stage of the 2025 Champions Trophy after going winless throughout their campaign.
They then travelled to New Zealand and failed to impress as they were crushed 4-1 in the T20I series before being whitewashed 3-0.
“It is shameful. The PCB chairman should think that if he can’t control, he should resign and leave. Don’t ruin your reputation. If you don’t want to do that, then improve the status of the current team,” Akmal said on his YouTube channel aa quoted by NDTV.
Following the New Zealand series, many of the national players featured in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which the Lahore Qalandars won.
Pakistan finally turned their fortunes around in their three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore as they triumphed 3-0.
