Renowned Pakistan six-hitter Shahid Afridi said he knows big-hitting batsman Mohammad Haris “has talent”, but pointed out that it is useless if he doesn’t perform.
Haris is one of the brightest prospects in the country, but has failed to deliver on a regular basis despite getting a plethora of opportunities.
Currently, the 24-year-old averages 7.50 in ODIs and 13.64 in T20Is, which in Afridi’s opinion is simply not good enough.
“I have been watching (Mohammad) Haris for a long time and he has talent, but talent without performance is useless,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Haris recently featured in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand, but failed to have much of an impact as he was restricted to 65 runs at an average of 13 and a strike-rate of 118.18.
After this, he represented the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and accumulated 247 runs in 10 games, which included a top score of 87, at an average of 27.44 and a strike-rate of 148.79.
Despite Haris having a solid campaign, the Zalmi failed to qualify for the playoffs.
PSL 10 will finish on May 25.
Once the tournament ends, Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in Lahore from May 28 to June 1.
Haris has been picked in Pakistan’s T20I team and will look to post a couple of big scores during the series.
