Azhar Ali: “Look at what he has achieved. You are too focused on what he hasn’t done. The runs he is scoring in all three formats are phenomenal. We need to recognise how good he truly is”

Former Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali believes people need to recognise how good Babar Azam really is.
He noted that Azam has achieved incredible feats in his career already and feels the 30-year-old’s critics are “too focused on what he hasn’t done”.
While the Lahore native’s form has taken a dip as of late, Azhar pointed out that his run-scoring capabilities “in all three formats are phenomenal”.
“Look at what he has achieved. You are too focused on what he hasn’t done. The runs he is scoring in all three formats are phenomenal. We need to recognise how good he truly is,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently featured in the 2025 Champions Trophy and scored 87 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50.
He followed that up with 129 runs in three ODIs against New Zealand, which included two half-centuries, at an average of 43.
Currently, he is captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has amassed 178 runs in eight matches, which includes two fifties, at an average of 29.66 and a strike-rate of 109.87.
PSL 10 got underway on April 11 and will finish on May 18.
