Saud Shakeel: “I never had any idea of making records. My priority is always to give such performances which could win matches for Pakistan”

Pakistan batsman Saud Shakeel has made it clear that breaking records is not his priority as he is solely focused on winning matches for the team.
The Test vice-captain has become a key member of the middle order as he has scored plenty of runs and brought some much-needed stability.
Shakeel recently played in the 2025 Champions Trophy and amassed 68 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 62, at an average of 34.
Pakistan embarked on a limited overs tour of New Zealand after the Champions Trophy, but the 29-year-old was not included in the squad for both the T20I and ODI series.
The men in green lost the T20Is 4-1 and the ODIs 3-0.
“I never had any idea of making records. My priority is always to give such performances which could win matches for Pakistan,” Shakeel was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Currently, Shakeel is captaining the Quetta Gladiators in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has made scores of 59 and 1 in his first two games against the Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars respectively.
PSL 10 started on April 11 and will end on May 18.
