Iconic Pakistan power-hitter Shahid Afridi wants spinner Sajid Khan to be picked in limited overs cricket as he is full of confidence and can “also hit sixes”.
Sajid has only been utilised in Test cricket so far and has taken 59 wickets in 12 matches, which includes four five-wicket hauls, at an average of 27.28.
Having shown great potential in the Test arena, Afridi feels the 31-year-old should be given an opportunity to showcase what he can do in white-ball cricket as well.
“His confidence is very high and he is also a very good fielder. He (Sajid Khan) is a strong character who can also hit sixes in batting,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Pakistan recently took on New Zealand and South Africa in an ODI tri-series, where they made it to the final before being beaten by the Black Caps.
They were then involved in the 2025 Champions Trophy, but were knocked out in the group stage after losing to New Zealand and India.
Their final game against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
Following the Champions Trophy, Pakistan travelled to New Zealand to play a limited overs series and kicked off their campaign with a 4-1 loss in the T20Is.
Things didn’t get any better for the men in green in the ODIs as they were crushed 3-0.
Many Pakistan players will now take part in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but Sajid was not selected by any team.
PSL 10 will be held from April 11 to May 18.
