Aaqib Javed: “I don’t scold the players at all. Because in our culture, the teacher scolds, beats, the coach scolds, and abuses. I don’t believe in this. I respect players”

Pakistan head coach Aaqib Javed said he doesn’t “scold the players at all” as he doesn’t “believe in this”.
He noted that scolding and abusing is part of the country’s culture, but he wants to move away from these traditional methods and help the players in the national team get better.
Aaqib’s comments come at a time when the men in green have found themselves bombarded by criticism as they have failed to achieve the results expected of them.
Recently, they hosted New Zealand and South Africa in an ODI tri-series and made it to the final before losing to the Black Caps.
Pakistan then took part in the 2025 Champions Trophy and were knocked out in the group stage after going winless.
Most recently, the men in green toured New Zealand for a limited overs series, where they had little success as they lost the T20I series 4-1 and the ODI series 3-0.
Despite the team’s dismal performances, Aaqib insisted that he won’t resort to shouting at the players.
“I don’t scold the players at all. Because in our culture, the teacher scolds, beats, the coach scolds, and abuses. I don’t believe in this. I respect players. You can help them. You can make them practice whatever they want. I am not the one who can scold people or say anything to them,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.
All the Pakistan players will now be preparing themselves for the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will be held from April 11 to May 18.
