Iconic South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has called legendary Pakistan cricketer Younis Khan “a wonderful batter”.

Younis is widely regarded as one of the best batsmen Pakistan has produced as he is the only player from the country to have amassed 10,000 runs in Test cricket.

The 47-year-old represented Pakistan in 118 Tests and scored 10,099 runs, which included 34 centuries and 33 fifties, at an average of 52.05.

He also featured in 265 ODIs and accumulated 7,249 runs, which included seven hundreds and 48 half-centuries, at an average of 31.24.

As for his T20I career, the Mardan native finished with 442 runs in 25 matches, which included two fifties, at an average of 22.10.

“Younis Khan has been there and done that. He was a wonderful batter; he has a stand named after him in Karachi,” Steyn was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Pakistan team recently took part in the 2025 Champions Trophy, but failed to impress as they were knocked out in the group stage.

They are now facing New Zealand in a white-ball series and were battered 4-1 in the T20Is.

The two teams are now involved in a three-match ODI series, which the Black Caps lead 1-0 after winning the 1st ODI in Napier by 73 runs.

The 2nd ODI will take place on April 2 in Hamilton.
