Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria said batsman Babar Azam has an obvious weakness against left-arm spinners.
He noted that Azam struggles to play against such bowling and should work to rectify the problem.
Azam was recently involved in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where he made 62 runs in three games at an average of 20.66.
After that, he played in the 2025 Champions Trophy and accumulated 87 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50.
“Babar Azam struggles against left-arm spinners,” Kaneria told IANS as quoted by NDTV.
Pakistan lost to New Zealand and India in the Champions Trophy, which brought their campaign to an end in the group stage.
Their final game against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
Pakistan are now facing New Zealand in a white-ball series and lost the T20Is 4-1.
Azam was not selected for the T20Is, but has been included in the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series, which begins on March 29 in Napier.
