Danish Kaneria: “He uses his fingers to give the ball a tweak, he is not a leg-spinner, doesn’t get the ball to turn, gets hit for plenty”

Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has blasted mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, saying he “gets hit for plenty” of runs.
He noted that Abrar “is not a leg-spinner” and “doesn’t get the ball to turn”.
The 26-year-old has become a key member of the national team as of late and recently featured in the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where he took three wickets in three matches at an average of 57.
Following that, he was involved in the 2025 Champions Trophy and claimed two wickets in two games at an average of 37.50.
“He uses his fingers to give the ball a tweak, he is not a leg-spinner, doesn’t get the ball to turn, gets hit for plenty,” Kaneria told PTI Video as quoted by NDTV.
Pakistan lost to New Zealand and India in the Champions Trophy, which led to them crashing out in the group stage.
Their final match against Bangladesh was washed out, meaning they failed to win a single game throughout their entire campaign.
Pakistan are now taking on New Zealand in a T20I series, where Abrar has taken five wickets in three games at an average of 19.80 and an economy rate of 10.80.
The men in green trail 3-1 going into the 5th T20I on March 26 in Wellington.
Abrar has also been selected for the ODI series, which starts on March 29 in Napier.
