Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi has made it abundantly clear that he will “always be available for Test cricket”.

His comments come after questions were raised about his commitment to playing the longest format.

It should be noted that Afridi last played Test cricket in October 2024 and wasn’t part of Pakistan’s squad for the Test series against South Africa and the West Indies.

However, Afridi dismissed all the talk about his commitment, stressing that he wants to keep representing his country in Tests.

“I will always be available for Test cricket,” he was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Recently, the 24-year-old took part in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where he snapped up six wickets in three matches at an average of 33.16.

He then proceeded to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy and finished with two wickets in two games at an average of 71.

Pakistan crashed out in the group stage of the tournament after losing to New Zealand and India.

Their final match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.

The men in green are now playing a white-ball series against New Zealand, which comprises five T20Is and three ODIs.

Pakistan lost the 1st T20I by nine wickets and will look to bounce back in the 2nd T20I on March 18 in Dunedin.
