India batting icon Sunil Gavaskar has questioned why Pakistan are not able to produce top-quality batsmen like Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Gavaskar noted that the men in green used to have a lethal batting line-up, but admitted that it no longer the case anymore due to the lack of depth when it comes to the pool of players to select from.
The men in green haven’t been anywhere near their best lately as they recently hosted an ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where they lost to the Black Caps in the final.
Following this, there were high hopes for them to do well in the 2025 Champions Trophy, but they ended up crashing out in the group stage after losing to New Zealand and India.
Their final game against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
“It’s surprising that they have struggled to produce batters like Inzamam-ul-Haq,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Next up for the men in green will be a white-ball tour of New Zealand, where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs from March 16 to April 5.
