Former England captain Nasser Hussain feels Pakistan need an “explosive player” and Fakhar Zaman is the perfect man for the job.
Zaman recently made his comeback to the national team and featured in the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.
In the three matches he played, he scored 135 runs, which included a top score of 84, at an average of 45 and a strike-rate of 120.53.
The 34-year-old then went on to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy and struck 24 runs in the opening game against New Zealand.
However, his campaign came to an end in that match as well as he suffered an oblique injury.
Despite the setback, Hussain thinks Zaman is the ideal candidate when it comes to a player who possesses immense firepower.
“What they need is Fakhar Zaman, that explosive player,” he said on Sky Sports as quoted by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan failed to make it out of the group stage in the Champions Trophy as they lost to New Zealand and India, while their final game against Bangladesh was washed out.
The men in green will now tour New Zealand for a white-ball series, which will comprise five T20Is and three ODIs that will be held from March 16 to April 5.
