Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody has called Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir “an outstanding bowler” and said he is “a real asset”.
Amir came out of retirement to represent the men in green in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took seven wickets at an average of 10.28.
However, he didn’t play international cricket again after the tournament and subsequently retired for the second time.
Having worked with the 32-year-old in different T20 leagues, Moody acknowledged that the Gujar Khan native is an elite level bowler.
“Amir is an outstanding bowler… I’ve worked with Amir in other tournaments, and he’s a real asset. There’s no question of his quality and class as a quick bowler,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Since Amir brought his international career to an end again, he missed Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The men in green failed to make it out of the group stage in the Champions Trophy after losing to New Zealand and India.
Their last match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a tour of New Zealand, which will consist of five T20Is and three ODIs that will be played from March 16 to April 5.
