Veteran cricketer Fawad Alam believes Babar Azam is the best Pakistan batsman of this era.
Azam has been Pakistan’s top run-scorer in all three formats for years, but has seen a dip in form lately as he has struggled to score runs consistently.
Despite this, Fawad noted that no other batsman in Pakistan “has performed as much as Babar”.
“I don’t think anyone has performed as much as Babar, it has nothing to do with the title ‘king’. I think Pakistan doesn’t have any better batsman in this era like Babar,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam was recently in action in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where he made 62 runs in three games at an average of 20.66.
He then took part in the 2025 Champions Trophy and finished with 87 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50
The men in green failed to make it out of the group stage as they lost to New Zealand and India.
Their final match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
Pakistan will now embark on a tour of New Zealand, where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs from March 16 to April 5.
