Former Pakistan cricketer Yasir Hameed said batsman Kamran Ghulam has become “[an] important player in the middle order”.

Ghulam has made quite the splash at the international level ever since he scored a magnificent 118 in his Test debut against England.

Since then, he has become part of the Pakistan Test team and also been utilised in ODIs as well.

During Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against Australia, the 29-year-old only batted once and made five runs.

He got more time at the crease during the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe and did very well, amassing 120 runs, which included a career-best 103, at an average of 60.

Pakistan then toured South Africa and the Upper Dir native accumulated 67 runs in three ODIs, which included a top score of 63, at an average of 22.33.

As for the Test series, he made 98 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 54, at an average of 24.50.

Ghulam was then involved in the two-Test series against the West Indies and ended up with 67 runs at an average of 16.75.

Having made a number of valuable contributions in the middle order, Hameed acknowledged that Ghulam is on his way to becoming an integral member of the Pakistan squad going forward.

“Kamran Ghulam is [an] important player in the middle order,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ghulam recently featured in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and accumulated 18 runs in the one match he played.

He was picked for the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy, but was not included in the playing XI for the matches against New Zealand and India, both of which Pakistan lost.

Due to their losses, the men in green have been eliminated from the Champions Trophy and will conclude their campaign with a match against Bangladesh on February 27 in Rawalpindi.
