Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif believes batting all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has become “a valuable asset” for the national team.
Salman has helped bring stability to the middle order, which used to be one of the men in green’s major weaknesses.
Recently, the 31-year-old toured South Africa with the Pakistan team and began by making 163 runs in three ODIs, which included a career-best 82 not out, at an average of 81.5o.
He also took five wickets at an average of 22.
In the two Tests that followed, Salman amassed 86 runs at an average of 21.50 to go with three wickets at an average of 57.66.
The Lahore native then featured in Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan and scored 40 runs at an average of 10.
Considering the fact that Salman is a handy batsman and off-spinner, Latif feels Pakistan should keep picking him going forward.
“Salman Ali Agha is a valuable asset,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Salman just finished representing Pakistan in their ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where he scored 219 runs, which included a career-best 134, at an average of 73.
Next up for Salman and the rest of the Pakistan team will be the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be held from February 19 to March 9.
