Pakistan power-hitter Fakhar Zaman said it doesn’t matter where Babar Azam bats as he is good enough to excel at any position.

His comments come after questions have been raised about whether Azam will open the batting with Zaman during the 2025 Champions Trophy or bat at number three.

During the recent ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, the 30-year-old played as an opener.

However, national selector Asad Shafiq recently said that either Azam or Saud Shakeel will partner with Zaman at the top of the order at the Champions Trophy.

Regardless of where he bats, Zaman is confident that Azam will have a massive impact.

“For a player like Babar Azam, batting number doesn’t matter, he is such a player that his class doesn’t let you down,” he said on the PCB Podcast as quoted by A Sports.

The Champions Trophy will be held from February 19 to March 9.
