Iconic Australia captain and batsman Ricky Ponting said Pakistan fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah “have the pace and skill to trouble any batting line-up”.

Afridi and Naseem are Pakistan’s first-choice speedsters in limited overs cricket and are constantly expected to take lots of wickets, especially with the new ball.

Both of them played in the recent ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.

Afridi led the way with six wickets in three matches at an average of 33.16, while Naseem claimed three wickets at an average of 60.33.

With the 2025 Champions Trophy right around the corner, Ponting is hoping the duo bring their A-games as they will play pivotal roles for Pakistan throughout the tournament.

“Pakistan’s fast bowling brigade is very, very good. Led by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, who’ve been terrific in recent series, they have the pace and skill to trouble any batting line-up,” he said on the latest episode of The ICC Review.

The Champions Trophy will be held from February 19 to March 9.
