Former Pakistan cricketer Faisal Iqbal has called out middle order batsman Salman Ali Agha for no longer being a consistent run-scorer in Test cricket.
He noted that as soon as Salman secured his place in the Test squad and became Pakistan’s white-ball captain, his performances in Tests have gone downhill.
The 31-year-old recently featured in the two-Test series against South Africa and made 86 runs at an average of 21.50.
He failed to impress in the two-Test series against the West Indies as well, mustering 40 runs at an average of 10.
“In my assessment, Salman Ali Agha has really disappointed by not scoring runs in Test cricket specially after becoming white-ball [vice-captain]. I don’t understand why their confidence after taking responsibility for giving consistent performances go low after securing permanent places,” Faisal said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Salman was part of Pakistan’s team for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where he has amassed 219 runs, which included a career-best 134, at an average of 73.
He also claimed one wicket at an average of 109.
Next up for Salman will be the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
