Former Pakistan leg-spinner Usman Qadir has slammed Babar Azam’s critics, saying the Pakistan batsman has scored more runs than they ever did in their careers.
Qadir, who retired from international cricket in October 2024, believes Azam is unfairly criticised when he fails to score runs.
The 30-year-old has been going through a rough patch as of late, but Qadir pointed out that people have to understand how much he has done for Pakistan cricket throughout his career.
“The amount of runs Babar Azam scores is more than his critics have made in their whole careers. I think people should think carefully and think twice before saying anything,” he was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam just finished playing in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa and amassed 62 runs in three matches at an average of 20.66.
The Lahore native will now feature in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
